International MBA Students
Gain a Canadian degree without leaving home...
Athabasca University’s Online MBA for executives programs — including the accelerated MBA route and MBA for Accountants — are all delivered entirely online, with the exception of one elective with a week in residence. The in residence elective weeks are arranged throughout the year in locations across Canada and in at least one international location.
Applying with a non-Canadian undergraduate degree
If your undergraduate degree is from a university outside of Canada or the United States, your educational qualifications may require independent assessment*. International transcripts can be assessed by:
*If your business degree is from a university whose business programs are accredited by AACSB or EQUIS, this requirement will be waived.
AU MBA programs are conducted in English. We do not require you to submit proficiency test results with your application, but you must be able to read, understand, and communicate complex business theories, issues, and solutions in English.
Working across time zones
AU’s powerful online learning environment facilitates effective asynchronous learning and collaboration among students and academics. What this means is you are never required to be online at a certain time — you work at the times and places that work for you.
The in residence requirement
All AU Online MBA for executives program students must take one elective with a week long in residence component.
In residence electives are held in locations across Canada and in at least one international location each year. Some past international locations have been Singapore, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, England, Ireland, and the U.S.
Tuition and fees for international students
The difference between what international students pay and Canadian students pay for Faculty of Business graduate programs is $400 (in Canadian currency; one-time and non-refundable).
This is a fee for extra shipping costs and applies to anyone living outside of Canada while they take the program, regardless of citizenship.
Scholarships / financial assistance
Unfortunately, there is no financial assistance available from Athabasca University for new international applicants to Faculty of Business programs.
Once you have become a student, there are several scholarships and awards you can apply for that can reduce your overall tuition costs. None will cover the entire cost of your program though.
