The Implementation of Multinational Corporations Sustainability Strategies across the World
Start Date: March 1st, 2019
Specific activities include, but are not limited to:
This project will contribute to the academic understanding of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) by studying the implementation of their sustainability strategies in various contexts. MNCs are big players in the sustainability of society who are implementing their strategies across the world. Although still limited, most of the academic focus on MNCs has been in those from developed countries studying their impact in developing countries from Africa, Asia or Latin America. However, the growing number of MNCs from developing countries, especially from China and other BRIC countries, operating all over the world brings a new flavour to the discussion. This research aims to study MNCs from developed and developing countries implementing their sustainability strategies in diverse contexts using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as framework.
The primary job duties for the field research assistant (RA-1) include collecting secondary data from corporate sustainability reports using structured techniques and analyzing the data qualitatively.
The successful candidate will work with, and directly report to, Dr. Eduardo Ordonez-Ponce at Athabasca University. Dr. Ordonez-Ponce will provide adequate training for the literature review, data collection, and qualitative analyses that will be required.
The candidate must have some basic experience with data collection and analysis. However, most importantly is the willingness to learn and contribute to this research. Opportunities for conference presentations and participating in academic publications are also available.
