Athabasca University launches MBA on the business of hockey!

Athabasca University (AU) has collaborated with the Business of Hockey Institute (BHI) to develop an elite, hockey-specific, Online MBA for executives to elevate the business side of the game. For the first time in hockey’s history, a program is in place to develop the leaders in the boardroom as effectively as those on the ice.

The global entertainment industry is fast-paced, lucrative, and competitive. All professional sport franchises and entertainment businesses are looking to win fans’ time, attention, and money. Teams, leagues, and governing bodies need talented managers and executives with broad strategic and operational capabilities; people who can shape opportunities and develop strategic advantage. Leading agents and hockey executives have worked hand in hand with Athabasca University to create a online MBA for the Business of Hockey—a unique blending of the AU Online MBA for executives and the BHI’s Professional Hockey Manager designation.

Official launch event coming soon!

Media will be invited in the near future to attend the exclusive panel discussion about details of this innovative new program hosted by a number of leaders within the hockey industry, including Brian Burke (President, Hockey Operations – Calgary Flames), Ritch Winter (Managing Director (North America) – 4 Sports & Entertainment AG), Ron Robison (Commissioner, Western Hockey League), Brad Robins (Chairman, The Robins Partnership) and Scott Smith (Chief Operating Officer, Hockey Canada).
