DAY 1 UPDATE
The first day of the CME Market Education Competition’s final round saw the AU Traders come out strong, taking the lead over our other AU team, Far & Wide.
The competition is tight, with a relatively thin margin between portfolio values for a single day of trading. Only about $7,000 separates the AU Traders, in 12th place, from the AU Far & Wide Traders, who are in 26th!
1st place: University of Knoxville – $310,355.00
12th place: AU Traders – $257,180.00 portfolio
26th place: AU Far & Wide Traders – $250,855 portfolio
Last: Nanyang Polytechnic – $202,800
Dr. Eric Wang, one of the academic advisors for both teams, sent in these interesting facts: “AU student teams have been ranked in the top 10% three years in a row, so far the only Canadian university being able to do so. This year’s competition is harder than ever; a team needs to earn at least 40% of profit to qualify for the final round while previously 23% was sufficient!”
